The opening scene of the woman
in black starts off with three young girls playing with dolls these are two main
aspects of many possessive horrors, this creates a normal tone as we don't
expect anything dramatic to happen. The three girls all look around at the same
time slowly as  if not to startle something or let it now its been noticed. they
then look and see the window a zoom is used when all attention is on the window
the three girls all stand up and walk towards the window they stand in a line
suggesting they have been possessed  and open the window then jump out
reinforcing that they are being possessed This scene is anchored by creepy
non-diegetic background music and slow pace building up suspense and
tension.
